…favorite things friday: my mailbox

I have such fun news! A big retailer is now stocking my mailbox. I get lots of emails about where I found it and it was from a super small distributer and I don't even recall the name. Now it's available at Pottery Barn.

Here is a picture of it on a door, which I thought was a fantastic idea! This is what mine looks like in comparison. They do not stock such a shabby, bronzy color, but they do have a few comparable options.

I'm looking out for my favorite readers! I know how excited I get when I find a piece that I've been hunting for so for those of you that were on the hunt for this mailbox now's your chance!

…simple. valentine’s. decor.

I realize that many think that Valentine’s is a commercial holiday, but as a mom of three who has been married for 14 years I will take any excuse to go out to a quiet dinner and feel loved for an evening. Not to mention chocolate is always involved and my new tradition of ordering my family Georgetown Cupcakes is pretty exciting. Can. Not. Wait. Until. They. Arrive.

I must admit that I also love the colors of Valentine's. I heart pink and red combined and although I don't dress with these colors or decorated my home in them, they are so sweet and pleasing.

Let's take a break from winter to fill our eyes with these delicate, pink images many of which can be easily arranged for your love. You can achieve any of these looks pretty much with pink flowers - fresh or dried - and an interesting vessel to put them in. Must run to the flower shop myself! (Aka the grocery).

Even if you are not into Valentine's, I feel like placing flowers in your kitchen, even just for yourself, allows us to break from the cold and mundane of February. Why not.

…kelly’s bedroom set

I love hearing from old friends and I love even more when I can help them out with their furniture restoration needs. I heard from a dear one, Kelly (formerly Hicks), before the holidays. We were littles growing up in the same church eventually braved high school together.

Kelly had some old pieces that she wanted finished for her home. I have probably refinished at least 200 of these same dressers by now. Here are some before images. (Apparently, I also took a selfie with the dresser because I was probably a little dizzy from Christmas chaos at that point. I honestly don't remember.)

This brassy hardware is so so common on these old pieces. I always recommend painting it if it is going to distract from the overall piece. These were done in Paris Grey with light distressing. Here's how they turned out.

I heart a good filter on a photo.
