…blue egg brown nest video tutorial!

I was always hesitant to do this because, well, I haven’t had time and who really wants to see themselves on tape. But, I've had alot of requests and want to show you how I interpret using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.

You may have noticed a new icon on my site called "Tours & Tutorials". I decided to do some videos in this section based paint & home. So, there will be a series of posts on chalk paint and interiors.

This first video is the first step in chalk paint. I hope it's helpful. More importantly, I hope to show that painting needs to be fun, interpretive and made you own. Don't do everything I do. Find your own style and like Ginger my first boss told me, decide what you love and then have the confidence to say it's the best.

Here goes nothin'. (please forgive the children screaming in the background and hiccup in the beginning. DH is new to splicing video!)

Thanks always for the encouragement, Lovelies!

…Tuesday Building Series – Building a House

I guess this chapter is more Renovating a House. Our first home. We will get the the Building a House soon.

I’ve been showing you all the downstairs and this was a big part of it, at least for my DH. He needed a flatscreen in the wall and to appease me he gave me custom bookshelves.

He hand-built the shelves and cabinet doors hiding all those God-awful black boxes and wires. He also trimmed it all out. Yes, he's a keeper 🙂

More painting. Ha - look at the Herndon Hornets t-shirt!

A crazy, complex remote that DH bought who knows where. I never learned to use it.

Lights & carpet!

Then I got it in my head that doing horizontal stripes would be a good idea. This was at the height of all those DIY shows and was the thing to do. I had to try it out. I think it was 4 months later I painted over the whole thing. The best thing about being an adult is that we can change our mind.

Meanwhile - while the paint downstairs was drying on the wall, DH got it in his head to build a shed for his tools.

Did I mention he wanted to attach the shed to his parent's former jacuzzi? Oh my. I go on record saying this was a bad idea.

Question for Brent-the-Builder?

Post a question on your renovation and he will answer!

more milk paint chairs

I wish I had a before picture of these chairs, but I don’t. They were pretty much that yucky light brown wood and I think there was some sort of floral pattern on the seat. I did a similar rubbed milk paint, stain, wax and recovered the seat with some fabric I ordered. They are now in my dining room sitting pretty.
