…ollie, owen and the bird

If you know me and Blue Egg, you know Ollie and Owen aka my orange tabbies that are total photo-bombers. They just can’t help themselves. Take a look:

You get the point. They can’t help themselves. So, yesterday I had to run an errand and because it was an absolutely gorgeous day I left a veranda door open because they were enjoying it so much. I even took a picture because they looked like old grandpas just lounging, living the life.

When I walked in the front door about 20 minutes later I was starteled to find feathers spread all over my kitchen. I had to blink a few times to realize what they were and when I crept around the island, I was so distraught to find this. Brace yourselves, Friends.

I know! It’s too horrible! I screamed into the phone, as I was on with Dear Heather, while I figured out what to do. I gently wraped him in a bag, dug a shallow grave in the front garden and said a prayer. God bless this little bird. 🙁

I have no idea how Ollie and Owen even accomplished it because they have never properly been outdoors. They somehow managed to snatch this bird off the railing or even in thin air and brought him into my kitchen. I know it’s a “gift” when a dead bird comes from a cat, but I haven’t quite forgiven them and am def. giving the silent treatment. Needless to say, when I searched for them after the funeral, this is what I found.

Clearly not remorseful.

…oh, you guys…

…are just the best! You wrap me like a warm hug and tell me it’s okay to rant and it’s okay to be me. It means more than you know! My intentions are always to offer information, guidance and inspiration. I am a curious person by nature and when I have an interest I want to look at it from all angles and not limit myself – especially when it’s something that I’m trying to achieve creatively. I would dare to say that limiting yourself or looking at things as black and white only makes your view of this world more narrow and, rather, strict. I’m so over rules! Aren’t you?!

Now, onto something more fun. Guess what this Friday is? The start of the Luckett’s Spring Market! They started opening the gates last year for a VIP Friday and will do the same thing this week.

IMG_3263

Why do they need a VIP day?

Well, there is so much great stuff amongst the 177 + vendors that shoppers want a shot at collecting all the unique items before things get too crowded. You have to pay for a ticket, which is $40, but it is truly worth it.

I will be there and can’t wait to add to my collection of so many things like: birdcages, old ladders, wood bowls, baskets, pillows, shoe molds, rusty buckets, and the occasional large piece of furniture that I just can’t turn away from. Here are some of the goodies from last year.

The vendors work so very, very hard to offer really amazingly cool items. This is also the fair that Miss Mustard Seed sells at and her tents always have a huge line as you can imagine! Her wares and attention to detail make her space so special. It is not to be missed.

I will most likely be wearing something like I wore last year that let me be comfortable in the heat. If you are there and see me, please come say hi! I will be the one running from vendor to vendor with my fists full. I loved meeting Danielle from The Tattered Dragonfly last year as I was picking up a vintage phone for my son. We got a good laugh about the little pew that I had my eye on and later discovered that she was the one that bought it!

IMG_3291

You may also see my cute friend, Sarah, hugging a trellis or Hoosier Cabinet:)

IMG_3279

Oh, and bring an empty car or better yet, truck! They also have deliver people that can get items to you if needed so don’t let that keep you from buying something big. Dylan from DMV Deliveries will be milling around!

IMG_3294

If you cannot make it to the VIP day then do try to come Saturday or Sunday. Even if it is wet, it is worth it. Just bring your boots and umbrella. The vendors will still be there selling their hearts out.

…how to refinish a needlepoint chair from the perspective of my cat

IMG_0045

AAAAAAAH! A large, scary monster come to hurt me!

Oh, it’s just a chair.

AAAAAAAH! She is going to smush me with that chair! But, no. She is putting it on top of the place where I sunbathe. Why would she put it way up there? Oh, she wants me to lounge on it. It’s a lounging chair for me. Yes, that’s nice. Much better than the end of the couch. Now I am high up and can view the rest of the room from up here. She wanted me to be higher than her because I am like the king in this home. How nice. Maybe I do like her.

Green string? How stupid. I’m not playing with that and she certainly doesn’t need to decorate my chair. It doesn’t even match my fur. Maybe if she could just shift it slightly to the left so the sun could reach my belly a bit more.

Oh! I get it. She wants to play! No? She doesn’t want to play? What is that deep voice coming from her mouth, snapping my name. If she doesn’t want to play then she shouldn’t stick that paint brush anywhere near my paws. Duh.

Purrrrr. It’s Greta. Okay, Greta put that ugly green string on my throne.

DINNER! I will return.

Blast. It is my brother Owen. He has always wanted to usurp me. Try as you may, but you will never take me down, Brother.

Oh, thank God. She’s taking off the green string. It really wan’t working for me. Wha, Wait. Where are you taking my throne? To the family room?

NOOOOOOOO!

And what is that ugly white thing?

A stuffed lamb? A toy? I’ve been replaced by a child’s toy? She will not be finding me at the end of her bed tonight. No sir. I may even ignore her for a whole day after this. And dinner better be on time.
