Christen Bensten is a mom of three living just outside of Washington, DC. She graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2000 where she received a BA in English Literature. Christen worked as a journalist at the Reston Times and then entered the design industry where she was able to marry her love of writing and design through marketing.
She started her blog and small, women-owned business, Blue Egg Brown Nest in 2002, which gained national recognition, including The Washington Post. Christen has been published in many design publications. Her interior design is included in Southern Style Decorating. She published her first book, Starving: A Memoir in 2021
