Christen Bensten is a mom of three living just outside of Washington, DC. She graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2000 where she received a BA in English Literature. Christen worked as a journalist at the Reston Timesand then entered the design industry where she was able to marry her love of writing with design.
She started her blog and small, women-owned business, Blue Egg Brown Nest (blueeggbrownnest.com) in 2002, which gained national recognition. She was profiled in The Washington Post as well as many design magazines, including Cottages Living Magazine, Southern Living Magazine, Arlington Magazine, freshstyle Magazine, Vintage Living Magazine and is included in the book publication of Southern Style.

When she is not writing or painting furniture, she is fostering loads of kittens through various shelters in the DC Metro area.
