…blue egg q&a’s

April 30, 2014 by christen | 2 Comments

Here are your Q&A’s for the week. Got questions? Email me at cbensten@blueeggbrownnest.com

The question I have for you, is about your walls in your family room. Do you mind telling me what colour they are.   I am in the midst of painting my living room and dining room, and your colour is so nice, neutral, and warm!

I get this question all the time. In the next few weeks I am going to re-post my entire week long series on the paint colors on my wall. Stay tuned.

What do you think of painting heavy metal lamps with chalk paint?

I have painted many lamps in the past. It works really well. You won’t want to sand them, but you can use the dark wax to create an aged look on the metal.

I have read/heard that when you paint with chalk paint, then wax, you can always just paint right over wax etc, and start all over again…   I just returned from a paint store, remaining unnamed…I brought up chalk paint, and I was told that it was not durable, only if waxed and if you wax it, it is permanent, and if you ever want to reprint, you have to scrape the wax off??   Any truth…is he saying maybe if you wanted to use latex paint??

He is wrong. This is one of the many beautiful qualities about ASCP. You can repaint you piece as is. No scraping, no prepping.

Have you ever used chalk paint over oil based paint?  Thinking about painting a cabinet that is already painted in oil paint.  Is this possible?

Yup. No problem. It will adhere.

I have a hutch that my daddy built years ago. It has dark stain on it and I want to lighten it. Will ASCP work in this type situation?

Will it work over stained wood? Yes.

What web host arе you using?

I use WordPress for my site.

How much experience have you had creating the white washed look. Do you have a good pictorial library of this look.

I have a turquoise desk that was painted using DIY chalk paint. I am trying to figure out how to incorporate the turquoise desk with my paris grey furniture. Do you think it would look ok if I put the desk in my bedroom, since all of my furniture is paris grey? Thanks!!
