I am the founder of Blue Egg Brown Nest, Refinished Vintage Furniture & Interiors. I started my business when I was very pregnant with my third child, building our second home and had no budget for furniture. I knew I had to get creative. I purchased eight French, wheat back chairs off of Craigslist and spent two weeks experimenting with milk paint. I finally achieved the rustic, European look I wanted. When we moved into our home in 2010 I had painted and upcycled much of our furniture, collecting vintage and antique times as well. My garage began to fill with vintage pieces that I had started to collect with the intention of painting. I discovered Annie Sloan Chalk Paint during my research and fell in love with her aesthetic.
I was inspired to start a blog about my process, which has developed into the business Blue Egg Brown Nest is today. I am blessed by the press that I have received from publications like The Washington Post, Cottage Style Magazine, Romantic Homes, freshstyle Magazine, Southern Home Magazine and most recently the book Southern Decorating Style.
I write a popular daily blog about refinishing tips & techniques, interiors, building a business and how to incorporate beloved vintage items into one’s space. Home has always been important to me and creating a safe and beautiful space should not be a luxury. A welcoming atmosphere is open to every home-owner and seeking out creative ways to achieve a pleasing look can be inexpensively achieved if we are open to look into the past for inspiration. I offer a European, cottage look that makes my home not only feel welcoming, but also worthy of friends and family.
