I’ve been asked to show pictures and/or do a series on children’s rooms. It is rather difficult to do as my children’s rooms belong the children. This basically means I do let them have more freedom in their space than the rest of the house. In other words, their rooms are messy. Big time.
I will show you as much as I can of my son’s room. I painted the bed in Aubusson Blue and the chairs in Duck Egg. The 2 red shelves on the sides of the bed are old fire extinguisher holders that I found.
Reid has my very first Union Jack in his room. Still my favorite one. I hung an old drawer above the dresser to use as a little shelf and collect odds & ends. Our preschool was giving away the old, vintage xylephones and I was lucky to snag all three! Love them. The mason jars have little animals & cars in them and of course we have many furry friends on top.
All my kids have an old globe in their rooms. Love.
Vintage clipboards are a really cool way to display artwork and take up wall space.
The vintage Cookie Monster was mine growing up. I don’t mind sharing.
The owner of the ship is the pirate to the right. Sometimes he even let’s his sister’s aboard.
Christen,
I am fairly new to this hobby and have found that I absolutely LOVE it. I have recently been asked by a friend to paint/distress something that she already owns. I know you do custom pieces for individuals. How do you base your per hour charge? Its a piece that she already owns and I already own the paint, so not sure what the going rate for something like this would be. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your work. Your home is beautiful.

I loved seeing your son’s room. So cute! And your children look like you. How sweet they are.
so cute! love the fire extinguisher holders repurposed as shelves. Very clever.
Hi there!
I have been watching and enjoying your tutorials as well as reading your blog. I am wondering how the paint and wax holds on up a well used dining table? I have three kids and really want to do a table in the washed technique you demonstrated. Just wondering if it will wash off with use. Or hold up with use?
Thank you so much for all you do!!

uh-dorable! and, that’s much neater than the rest of my apartment, fyi! 🙂
Hi!
Too funny! I’m in Mexico and we were out deep sea fishing, which is my favorite thing to do…even more that riding my horse, and we were joking about pirates on the high seas!
See…love your blog so much I am logging in from Mexico!
Beautiful children. I love seeing pictures of them!

You have an adorable sense of style. And your children are beautiful. I just signed up for your blog. I do a lot of chalk painting and I love it. I also paint pieces for others. I absolutely love the creativity and fun of chalk paint. I love taking something old and bringing it back to life. Your son’s room is a great example of repurposing and decorating. I have a little more of a challenge in that area. I paint beautifully but don’t always have the vision of what to do with it. I love seeing your ideas – you have an amazing talent. Thanks for the inspiration.
I absolutely love your blog. You have an amazing style. I do a lot of chalk painting and I paint for other people also. I paint beautifully but don’t always have the vision of how to repurpose what I have painted. You have the ability to do both and I really admire and appreciate that you share it. Thanks so much. I am new to your blog and am excited that I found it. I watched your tutorial on painting cane and learned. I have painted cane before so I appreciated your tips. Your children are absolutely adorable. I have 11 beautiful grandchildren. Children are so precious. Thanks so much for sharing your talent!!
