…Favorite Things Friday – Coach Barn

January 11, 2013 by christen | 5 Comments

I love nice people. I respond to them and want to help them and chat with them. I met such a lovely lady this morning for a consult. She had a gorgeous home, but more important to me was that she was so inviting. I know that going into one’s space and creating solutions & suggestions is very personal and so I really appreciate it & consider it a honor.

She was after a large piece of furniture for a wall in the most lovely living room. So, as I was trying to come up with a Favorite Thing for Friday I wondered if others would be looking for something similar for a large wall. And I said to myself, “Why, yes, they would be interested” as I received loads of emails about where to find large amoires, chests, etc.

I’ve been meaning to tell you about one of my new shop finds, Coach Barn.

This piece is 52″ so with a few sconces on either side, it could take up a good piece of the wall when centered.

At 39″ maybe be better for a smaller wall space.

Sweet.

All from Coach Barn.

I think it’s ideal of that your large amoire be practical. If you need to stuff it with kids toys and close the doors, then do it. If you need to put a tv in it so you don’t have to stare at a black screen or you need to hang you husbands shirts because you’ve taken up all the closet space, then why not look at something lovely from the outside?

Gulp. 10 Days to the Home & Remodeling Show at the Expo Center January 20th at 1:00. Join me as I will be doing a chalk paint demo. Better finish up the Power Point. Akkk!

Greetings, I am just getting into Annie Sloan paints and I’ve watched a lot of your video’s. My question to you is that I’m painting dressers, all kinds of dressers and painting over the hardware. My husband is VERY supportive but he is NOT liking the painted hardware. Well, ahhh, now that I’ve done it, I want your opionion….once my vintage pieces are done…do you think I can take off the painted hardware now…and maybe repaint them vintage white…and put them back on my dressers…..next time obviously I will take them off and do something different but comment and opinion please on how to not make the whole piece looks so, umm, well, umm, painted…..

I’m so excited that I found your tutorials!! Now I get it!! I have an old pie safe that I want to give a try, but can’t decide if I should paint the tins? What would you suggest?

I have never seen a pie safe with tins so how awesome for you! I would say NO, however. Let them be a cool contrast to the chalk paint. Most of the time, I leave the interior in it’s natural state so I can see where the piece has come from originally. Email a picture when you’re finished!
