It is Spring, well, not really here in VA. I just heard on the news that we had the most snow here in 2 years and that was the 1st day of spring break! A bit depressing when all we wanted was a sunny day to kick off the week. BUT, we can still introduce spring in our homes, now, can’t we?
My favorite online fabric shop is offering a ton of fun, bold colors. Online Fabric Store.
I am a big fan of burlap. It’s cheap, it’s versatile, it’s vintage…and now it comes in tons of color!
Ooooo, burlap drum shade! Easily done.
Love this idea via Pintrest. A few wrapped burlap balls for decor. You could do this for every season! Just toss a few in your antique dough bowl and put on your kitchen table.
Yes, these tablecloths are in a natural color, but what about a bright green or blue just for spring? For a foyer table overlay, a dining table or maybe a runner for your kitchen space.
And of course the original burlap is always in good taste.
I just bought a few yards to do some window seat cushions. Of course it’s in my favorite color, Duck Egg.
If you are going to use a color a little goes a long way. Maybe some seat cushions. A few accent pillows. Curtain panels. Placemats. I really need to learn how to sew!
PS – Happy Easter.
PPS – Thinking Jesus. Love these lyrics from Downhere.
“How many kings, stepped down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
How many Gods have poured out their hearts
To romance a world that has torn all apart?
How many fathers gave up their sons for me?
Only one did that for me.”
PPPS – I will not forget the cross.
Happy Easter, Christen. And I told you when I picked up the arched mirrors, sewing is easy — there are tons of You Tube tutorials 🙂
Love this post! Burlap is probably one of my favorite fabrics and it’s tempting to use it everywhere! I might have to try the burlap wrapped balls idea that you found on Pinterest. One of my favorite non conventional uses for burlap is using it as a backing to simple black frames, with old, vintage family photos, (my Grandma gave me a box of family photos dating back to the late 1800s) taped in the middle. Happy Easter to you! He is risen!
Loving this post! I am dying to make some burlap curtains. Not sure how the hubs will feel when I take down the pricey ones to replace with … burlap? LOL! I’ll lie and say they were really expensive and he will never know! Have a great weekend Christen! ~ Lisa
Still loving the chest of drawers in the flag design you painted for me (and your website). Thanks so much for putting your faith out there. You’re such an inspiration in so many ways 🙂
Hi Christen,
Somehow I knew you were a Christian! Christ- like countenance and beautiful smile. The large cross necklace was kind of a hint! You have such a God given talent and a wiliness to share it with others. Thank you for inviting everyone into your home. Great to know that I have such a talented sister in Christ!
Pam
