Raise you hand if you spent time with friends outside around a fire-pit this winter. I think it was one of the only ways to stay safe and feel connected.
We had a heat lamp, but needed more fire. So, like a few other COVID projects, I challenged Dear Husband with making me a fire table JUST LIKE THIS ONE 🙂 Little did I know he could actually make it happen.
The mountains in the background would have been amazing too, but I won’t get too selfish here.
Retail prices is about $9,000 for one of these babies from RH
Ah, the garage. Where all the magic happens. Don’t judge the background too harshly. We fixed that all up with Brent’s custom built-ins….post coming soon.
So, in a nutshell building an 800 lb cement fireplace means building a mold as seen below. Then one fills it with poured concrete (a very messy job) and then breaks the mold. And then one begs children to try to move cement fireable in through the house without getting hurt. That part took literally two hours.
It’s always a family affair and I love it that way!
Oh, and Brent knows how to do all the mechanical work to make sure so that helps.
We’ve gotten so much use out of it and it’s so pretty to look at.
