Although I’ve been renovating, designing & building our homes, decorating, marketing and milk painting for 10 years – starting in our first home, Blue Egg Brown Nest was born a year ago.
I started blogging about my efforts in ASCP last summer and have built a real business around paint. I thought it would be fun to show a brief history of how Blue Egg came to be.
My first experiment with milk paint; my kitchen chairs!
Decided to blog. Decided on a name. Birds. Birth. Newness. Lightness. Rising. Color. Bright. The bright blue that of a robin’s egg that you wouldn’t think could be found in nature and the idea that it comes to life in the rustic, woven, brown nest. Contrast. Love it.
My first show at Stifel & Capra.
Played with Union Jacks.
First dining set refinished, sold & shipped.
Found out any piece with a marble top is a popular piece.
Still possibly my favorite console.
Then came The Washington Post knocking on my door.
My open house sales.
Many, many more pieces.
Chairs & more chairs.
Interior Design Services.
First year at Luckett’s Spring Market!
Met new chalk painting friends (Miss Mustard Seed)
And a year later? I’m busy, busy refinishing all your beautiful pieces that you trust me with, finding treasure of my own to refinish & find a home for and working on my own, cozy space.
Hmmm, maybe it is time for a book.
