Sometimes you just need to escape…everything. I have always needed a respite – a little place to bury myself and have some quiet time. I think about Julie Gottman from The Gottman Institute, the couple-therapist gurus, who told her husband it was really important for her to have a little cabin in the woods to escape to. He then expressed his need to honor his Jewish heritage. They met in the middle. Julie bought her cabin and John made a kosher home. I love this story so much because the couple found themselves meeting each other’s needs in a real and personal way.
I found my cabin, which isn’t a cabin, but a little home for my little family to escape and lay our heads under the stars far far away from the bustle of DC living.
I’m hesitant to even discuss it because there’s something so beautiful about holding a dear secret. Of course, at the same time decorating a new home is always such a treat and I’d like to share.
You will also see a big, ginger cat named Oscar. He is my new foster fail via Homeward Trails where I foster loads of cats. Sadly, he was caught in a hoarding situation where there were over 100 cats in a home. All the cats rescued were diagnosed with FIV and have respiratory issues. As you know I have a special place in my heart for ginger cats. Welcome, Oscar.
