I love a sweet, wood chair. A client brought me four of these to refinish for her. The cane seats unscrewed so I could get in there and paint. Love when it works out that way so I don’t have to break out the green tape!

Boo. I forgot to take a before.
Here is the after!
Beth did have one of the seats recaned. Beth, do you mind telling us who you used? Old White always works for kitchen chairs.
Hi Christen,
I just wanted to tell you how inspirational what you do is. I have done a few pieces myself but am a little shy about it because I am not well trained on techniques. I have watched many of your blogs. I love them!! Also to see you do this with a home, 3 kids, and a husband is wonderful! Keep it up! The chairs look amazing!
I have black painted kitchen chairs with upholstered seats. My table has a wrought iron base with a dark oak top. I have bought some linen/taupe fabric to redo the seats. I would like to paint the chairs but am having a hard time picking a color. I think old white might be too white and light. Any thoughts?
Kellene
Kellene, can you paint the table top? Either way, the Annie Sloan color Duck Egg would look nice for the chairs. And by the way, my sister’s name is Kellene, I’ve never known any other person with that name! ~Kim
Hey so I am really wanting to Try the chalk paint but am a litter nervous!!! We are building a bed and I’m thinking of using the old white but when I distress it there will not be any color underneath it to come through. I was thinking I would take a dk brown or black and do a think coat first so that I have some color to come through, or would the dark wax cover those areas?? Thanks so much I love you videos.
