Just the one word and it means so much. Paris. Elegance, history, romance, charm and hopefully next year’s anniversary trip, Dear Husband! Ha!
When I spent a week in Paris in my early 20s the number one memory that sticks out in my mind are the booksellers lined up along the Seine River. They had the most amazing, old, worn, yellowing books all stacked up in these large cases that seemed to hang off the stone railing. Many of them sat on worn bookseller’s shelves as well. For those of you that are not quite sure what I’m talking about, here’s an image.
Just lovely, yea?
A bookseller’s shelf is not the whole big thing you see here, it’s more of a take on it – a little shelf with a slanty, well, shelf. Like this:
I also remember seeing them on Portobello Road in Nottinghill.
It turns out that I NEED one. There is a bee buzzing around in my bonnet and you know when that happens I can’t rest until I’ve tracked one down and it must be vintage or look vintage or maybe even new and I’ll paint it to look old. Yes, that would work too.
I need your help because I can’t seem to find one. I’ve seen them here and there on One King’s Lane, but never knew I NEEDED one until now. And now they are no where to be found. My idea is to find a little hallway or corner to put it in where my kids can grab their books because every child in my house cannot have their very own bookshelf and these are super cute.
Will you keep any eye out for me? It may just require a little business trip oversees. My Dear UK friends, are you up for a little house guest?

The city near where I live there are a lot of the oldie worldie bookshops (Dublin Ireland) have these outside. especially the 2nd hand book sellers. They look so great. love the rustic tactile feel.
Hope your feeling on the mend, both in mind and body.

I love these shelves too. Ballard has a metal interpretation of this. It is reasonably priced. Two of my grown children each purchased one for their apartment. They seem like they are good quality, easy to assemble and what comes to mind is that they would be great for younger children. Good luck and have fun in your search.
