Picker
- Picker (surname), including a list of people so named
- A farmworker at harvest time
- Picker, a slang word for a player of a string instrument such as a guitar or banjo
- A common job title for order picking in a warehouse
- A person who finds valuable items in other people’s junk, as featured in the TV show American Pickers
I heart that the word “Picker” is now in the dictionary. It is a really big part of selling and buying antiques and vintage items. These treasures are not sold in shops, you have to find them in attics, basements, overgrown backyards, miles away and right in your next door neighbor’s home. Treasure is everywhere you just need to a)find it and b) find a way to buy it. If you have seen one of my fav shows, American Pickers you will know the process I am talking about. If you have not seen American Pickers you must.
Now that I am going to be selling at Lukett’s (moving in soon) picking is going to seriously become a full time job. I will be picking like I never have before because I will be selling in a bigger market.
At the end of the summer I took Greta on her first picking trip and she became addicted to the hunt. I have started to teach her what things to hunt for. I only want to find and sell what I would put in my own home. I am not interested in selling junk. I want really cool pieces and accessories that the average home owner can’t just go out and buy at Pottery Barn.
You all have been awesome at being my pickers! I love getting emails that you are interested selling your treasures to me. Keep it coming. I have found that the best way to do this is to email me a picture of the items you want to sell with a price. I will pay and I will pick up. cbensten@blueeggbrownnest.com
